Crescent Cereal
The moon has come and gone countless times and I have watched it in its path. Straight but in a circle, it’s always going, coming, and staying up there. The moon chases the sun and runs circles around the Earth in a dizzying whirl of planetary acrobatics.
I woke up this morning and had a peach so juicy it melted in my hand. Yesterday I had blueberry cereal and yogurt that mixed together like croutons dropped in split pea soup but tasted nothing like peas. The day before I had lasagna for breakfast.
Is there a difference between breakfast and the moon? These are regular cycles we can depend on to continue through the rest of our days without unwanted interruption; that is if we’re born so lucky to have both. Be it blueberries or the crescent moon, our lives are lived in pleasant repetition that changes subtly or drastically through each day-- depending on your viewpoint. I think I’ll have an omelet for the full moon.

The moon shows us rhythm in action, gives us cycles of tides and fertility, and reflects the waxing and waning we all experience in our days, seasons, and lives. I never thought of the moon as blueberries or breakfast, but now I can see the moon in my cereal too.

Lasagna for breakfast? You must have one of those youthful "strong constititions."
Funny how everything we eat has it's own rhythmic way of appearing and reappearing...
