One Day in Seven

Setting aside one day in seven is our way of tempering the effects of “civilization,”  and reclaiming our humanity.  We use this day to reflect on the miracle of our Existence and to be fully present.  We forgo any obligations or responsibilities, and allow the day to unfold moment by moment.

In her interview on NPR, Making Room for the Sabbath“, Judith Shulevitz inspires us to a deeper appreciation of the power of our practice of setting aside one day in seven.

In her latest book, The Sabbath World: Glimpses of a Different Order of Time,  she explores her relationship to the traditional practice of the Jewish Sabbath and uncovers its power to bring peace and balance to our busy modern lives.
